Composite Dental Fillings
We Are Proud To Offer Composite White Colored Dental Fillings In Elk Grove
What Are Cavities?
Accumulated food debris in between the teeth and on the tooth's surface can create acid that erodes the tooth and will result in tooth decay. This acid will affect the enamel (outer layer) of the tooth as well as the dentin (inner layer). Typically around 90% of adults have gotten a cavity. Tooth decay causes cavities and if left untreated can result in overall poor oral health. Dr. Fenton of Elk Grove uses composite fillings to repair any damage caused by acid in the teeth.
What are Dental Fillings?
If a tooth is damaged or decayed, then dental fillings are a great treatment option that helps to bring back the function and appearance of the tooth. Most of the time fillings are a common way to treat dental cavities. This procedure only takes one office visit most of the time. Composite fillings are used to repair much more than just cavities. Dental fillings can also be used to repair cracked, broken, or worn down teeth here at Laguna Vista Dental.
Type Of Fillings We Use
Are you hesitant to get the much needed dental care you deserve because of the appearance fillings might cause? Don't be. Laguna Vista Dental only uses white tooth colored composites only. Even if the area is highly visible, the fillings won't be. We take pride in not doing silver amalgams in our office. This resin we use is tooth colored and is made of a special plastic and glass. This type of filling allows the patient to maintain a natural-looking smile that is strong and functional. This composite resin can also be used for other cosmetic treatments, such as reshaping teeth or changing the color of the teeth.
Dental Fillings for Children
Primary, (baby teeth), usually are more susceptible to dental cavities because they are softer and more porous than permanent adult teeth. The recovery and filling treatment procedure is very similar to that of adults. Sometimes, Nitrous Oxide can be used to help calm the child before and during the treatment. This is a kid-friendly method without the need for pain or shots. We will discuss with you if Nitrous Oxide should be used. If this is the case, we recommend that the child does not eat for at least 2 hours before the treatment.

Haven't been to the dentist in about five years and finally made an appointment to go in. Went to see Dr. Fenton and right from the start, the staff was very friendly and that made me feel welcomed. Dr. Fenton is great very easy on the touch and made a lot of my dental fears go away. I'm very glad I found this office and would recommend anyone to go see them.
